The difficulty is the point at which you pass up settling on the most significant choices (and making them well), your profession and life can go seriously off base. More terrible yet, you can wind up feeling hopeless regardless of the considerable number of things you have accomplished. Along these lines, how about we take a gander at the choices you're confronting. What Decisions Are You Facing? Some of them have expansive results, similar to whether to begin a family, change occupations, move to another nation or start another business line. These are regularly one-time choices that we make intentionally and purposely. What's more, which is all well and good. Others are apparently less huge yet repeating, similar to what to arrange for lunch, what to wear, or what brand of toothpaste to purchase. You've presumably made schedules for huge numbers of these. Like my companion and previous CEO, Craig, who consistently arranges something very similar for lunch when he's feasting out (incidentally, it's a Caesar's Salad with Chicken). Putting those every day choices on autopilot is valuable in light of the fact that our minds can unfortunately settle on a limited number of good choices in a day. You're correct not to go through your dynamic limit on the conventional things you can transform into great propensities, such as practicing or thinking before going to work. Or on the other hand having alternate way decides for insignificant things that won't move the needle for your life in any case, such as picking a similar brand of pasta, nutty spread or cleanser when you're at the store. In any case, the issue is this: the most significant every day choices are the ones the greater part of us don't consider. At the point when you don't know that there's a choice to be made, it's like you're living on autopilot. That is the point at which you risk winding up in a better place than the one you planned. The Most Important Kinds of Decisions The most significant sorts of choices you can make are about how you need to carry on with your life instead of what you ought to do in a specific example or which exercises or things to pick. You Get to Decide Rather than leaving things on autopilot, recall that you get the chance to choose. So when you get up toward the beginning of the day, choose what sort of day you will have. While you can't control the circumstances that surface, you can control how you react to them. At the point when you get up in the first part of the day, choose what sort of day you will have. While you can't control the circumstances that surface, you can control how you react to them. To take action for pondering the really significant choices that will improve your life, here are simply the three I remind to make each morning. As you read them, see what rings a bell for you. 1. Be thoughtful to myself This implies focusing on my self-converse with ensure it's empowering and positive. At the point when I'm on autopilot, I will in general do a great deal of judging, should-ing and condemning. That is the reason I need to remind myself consistently to originate from a position of gratefulness and liberality when I'm conversing with myself. Furthermore, that encourages me stretch out a similar thoughtfulness to other people. 2. Concentrate on what is important most As a do-er and achiever, I will in general get snared on creating results regardless of whether it's arranging a rundown that shouldn't be in a specific request or making a spreadsheet look excellent when it's for inward utilize as it were. So center around what makes a difference most is a suggestion to put individuals and connections before errands and achievements. What's more, inside the assignments I take on, it's a suggestion to concentrate on the ones that lead to my greater yearnings as opposed to superfluous interruptions or another person's plan for me. 3. Appreciate each day As a recouping compulsive worker, I still routinely neglect to discover the delight throughout everyday life and to have a fabulous time. Or if nothing else get in a gut giggle every so often! That is the reason I included this day by day choice, which is motivated by my dad (who likewise works a ton). As I tuned in to my dad's discussion at an occasion denoting his retirement where more than 100 of his associates accumulated to praise his achievements, what struck me was his remark, I delighted in consistently. I've known my dad for my entire life however have never heard him state this. Today, my dad is a venerated researcher, tutor and good example and a goliath in his field. In any case, en route, he's had a lot of weights, such as beginning as a foreigner without any associations, raising a youthful family on an associate educator's compensation, making sure about award cash to help his examination lab. Be that as it may, longer than a decades-in length vocation, he had figured out how to appreciate each day. Incompletely on the grounds that he was accomplishing work he cherishes, however for the most part since he settled on that his decision. What Will You Decide? How you carry on with your life is a decision. Every day of your life is too valuable to even think about leaving to risk. How you carry on with your life is a decision. Oppose the impulse to follow the schedule others have made for you or let occasions convey you along on autopilot. What's the most significant choice you need to begin making deliberately today and by what method will that improve your life? Leave me a remark and let me know.

Approaching his pr ofessional life with an utterly committed ethic â€" “life is work work work” â€" he is focused on growing the AttireX brand, following the examples of his entrepreneurial heroes, Richard Branson, Steve Jobs and Oprah Winfrey, and also studying for his A-Level examinations!  Thankfully, there was time free in his schedule to enable Solomon Ian-Sangala to answer our questions, and relate his incredible rise to business success. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 1. Briefly tell us how you first got into business, and describe your business goals.I have a stutter and used to get get a lot of stick about it in school. It got to the point where Id react negatively, sometimes leading to me being kicked out of school. Long story short, I was now on my 5th school exclusion and feeling very suicidal.Communication is the most important thing anyone can  do, but I sucked at it and this made me feel so worthless.Id say that this was the darkest part of my life and the  most defining moment in my business journey so far. When I got home that day, seeing my mum in tears killed me. She had  some very stern words for  me, and if you want to be filled in on exactly what she said, watch my TED Talk below, as it’s quite a long story. If you have watched it before, scroll down and read on!Video  Source: YouTube“You’re going to die one day: do something about it. If that isnt motivation, I don’t know what is.”Anyway, mum’s words energised me, giving me a sense of purpose and belonging. So the next morning with the £2 lunch money she used to give us, I set out to the local corner shop and bought two  packets of chocolate, four  in each packet, so that was  eight Mars bars.I soon became known around school as a ‘businessman’ because I sold all eight for 50-pence each. The £2 became £4, and then the £4 became £8, and soon I was the school’s walking tuck shop, making thousands of pounds! This was when I knew I wanted to do business. When I fir st got into business, my  goal was to be rich! I had 2 quid, and wanted to show my mum that with this £2 that I had invested, I could buy her the baddest cribs and the shiniest jewels! But as the months went by, I realised that theres no such thing as ‘rich’. How much money is enough money, or how much money is too much money? What matters most to me is how much value Im adding to the next young entrepreneur, and even if I dont become ‘rich’, traveling around and sharing my story is something that Ive dreamt of doing for so many years.Oh, and making AttireX the worlds market leader for printed, embroidered and  bespoke clothing, of course! I think my mum would prefer that instead!  2. What age were you when you realised you wanted to run your own business?I was 14. After making a success of selling sweets in school, this was when I realised business was my calling. Turning £2 into £1,000 taught me that I could do anything. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 3. Who are your business icons and inspirations? My business icons include Sir Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, and Oprah Winfrey, because of their battles with adversity. However if I were to name one person who has inspired me then thatd be none other than my mentor Kevin Patrick  [owner of  the clothing brand Label Noire, where Solomon became the top salesman). When youre a rookie, you need someone with experience to walk and talk you through the game and Kevin did just that when I first started at 14. If it werent for his guidance, I dont think Id be where I am today.4. What has been your biggest challenge in business, and how did you surmount it?“I try to utilise my 24 hours to the  fullest. I dont know what will happen tomorrow.”My biggest challenge in business has been my age and skin colour, Id say. When youre 15  or 16, walking into corporate meetings with white, grey-haired men, can be daunting at first. Add that to the fact that I stutter and youve got this timid black teen age guy who has about 2% confidence. But Ive managed to change all of this to my advantage. Being black, young and having a stutter makes me memorable.I dont think theres anybody out there like me.I remember I went to speak at the Royal Bank of Scotland HQ and rolled up wearing skinny ripped jeans and no one could say anything because they were all there to hear me speak and I left my mark on them.Being this young lets me get get away with things I probably wouldnt be allowed to get away with in 20 years’ time!   (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 5. Work-Life balance: is it possible? How do you achieve it?For me, life is work work work. Balancing ‘life’ and ‘work’ is a very hard thing to do especially when youre as results-driven as I am. Sometimes I reflect on the times I waste reflecting on all the work I could be doing when Im not reflecting. But if I’m going to the gym, watching football with my dad and spending time with my friends and family is wha t you mean by ‘life’, then yeah, I guess it is possible. Even if youre ‘busy’.6. What is the first thing you do every day?The first thing I do every day is pray and thank God for enabling me see another day. Life isnt guaranteed. No-one goes to bed knowing for certain that  theyll wake up the next morning. This is why I try to utilise my 24 hours to the  fullest. I dont know what will happen tomorrow. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 7. What screen saver picture is currently on your phone?I have a screen saver of myself speaking at a TED conference with the quote: “MY PARENTS WORKED WAY TOO HARD FOR ME TO BE AVERAGE.” When I wake up and see this every morning, it gets me going.8. What is the most important app on your mobile phone, and why?I know you want me to say Twitter, Snapchat, or Instagram but Im going to surprise youâ€"its actually Google. Imagine a world with no Google. I love exploring new opportunities and finding out new things, sometimes v ery weird things. There are those who look at things and ask why. Id say, ‘Dream of things that never were and ask why not!’ If you were to go through my search history youd probably see me asking Google if something already exists. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 9. What is the last thing you Googled? How did I know this one was coming.  Okay, you got me. ‘Does underwear with built-in fart-freshener exist?’10. What item do you never leave the house without, and why?My iPhone, because I have a crazy girlfriend who always wants to know what Im doing. Nah, Im only kidding… or am I?! My phone is essential to everything I do. Think of an idea, Ill tell Siri to make a note of it.  See something cool, Ill capture it.  Going somewhere exciting, Ill take my social media following with meâ€"and lets be honest, Im heading somewhere exciting almost every day! (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 11. What advice would you give to your younger self sta rting out in business? If I were to give advice to my younger self, itd be in three words. Youre gonna die. Youre going to die one day, Solomonâ€"do something about it. If that isnt motivation right there, I dont know what is.image source: Solomon Ian-Sangala

What do you do when someone steals your amazing idea

What do you do when somebody 'takes' your astonishing thought What do you do when somebody 'takes' your stunning thought The headline read: did you see this? The message was from my editorial manager Jen. Nir, I saw the feature on this story and figured it may be composed by you-however no! she composed. Extremely odd. I in a split second tapped on the connection she'd sent.It was uncanny! An article composed by Christopher Mele at the New York Times, extraordinarily like a post I'd composed however hadn't yet published. My first idea was that I'd unintentionally tweeted a connect to my draft or distributed my post accidentally. Maybe somebody had hacked into my PC or guessed what me might be thinking. Mele's article utilized similar models, refered to a similar research, and even connected to similar sources. I was so astounded, I sent Mele an email (however I'd never been in contact with him), inquiring as to whether he'd by one way or another read my draft.Meanwhile, I hurried to post what I'd been really going after, figuring this would at any rate demonstrate I'd been composing a long time before M ele's story showed up. Simply at that point, Mele reacted to my email saying he'd never known about my work.Of course, he hadn't. What's more, upon further reflection, I felt really silly. Who was I demonstrating anything to? Who truly cared?I'd gotten so stirred up, dreading somebody had replicated my thoughts, that I let suspicion outdo me. I'd fallen into an intellectual trap. The indication of a novicePeople will in general accept thoughts are uncommon things, diamonds to be gathered and accumulated. In any case, in actuality the idea of imaginative work, be it corporate development, scholarly research, or aesthetic undertaking, lets us know a remarkable inverse - that if a helpful knowledge flies into your head, it's most probable in others' brains as well.Where I live, in Silicon Valley, there's one certain piece of information when individuals are beginners to the tech network: they request that I keep their thoughts mystery. A few business people request that I consent to a n on-revelation arrangement, a simple tell they haven't been here long. With uncommon special cases, barely any industry veterans sign NDAs for the straightforward certainty that smart thoughts will in general come to various individuals around the equivalent time. It's known as the numerous disclosure hypothesis, which, in opposition to the gallant hypothesis of creation, sets that revelations are regularly made by various individuals, not by solitary virtuosos. History is covered with models: the definition of analytics, the revelation of nutrient A, the advancement of the phone, the light, the fly motor, the iota bomb. When now is the ideal opportunity for specific things, the mathematician Farkas Bolyai stated, these things show up in better places in the way of violets becoming known from multiple points of view, disclosures are unavoidable, since development happens because of the predominant condition as much as it does by means of the motivation of a readied mind. As Kevin Kelly clarifies in his book What Technology Wants, Each mechanical movement around the globe follows a surprisingly comparative rough request. Stone pieces respect control of shoot, at that point to knifes and ball weapons. … The succession is genuinely uniform. Knifepoints consistently follow fire, human internments consistently follow knifepoints, and the curve goes before welding. Each past age lays the latticework for the following disclosure, uncovering bits of knowledge we are bound to discover. In a universe of inescapable synchronous revelations, there is no good reason for keeping most things mystery. Truth be told, holding thoughts near one's vest accompanies unanticipated expenses. For instance, not sharing your bits of knowledge much of the time and generally implies passing up input. The vast majority of the terrible startup thoughts I hear are awful not on the grounds that they're under danger of somebody's taking the thought, but since the organizer doesn't have the foggi est idea what the person in question doesn't know.Sharing thoughts implies others can show you your vulnerable sides. Moreover, exaggerating thoughts makes us bound to clutch them, which thusly makes us progressively unbending to new and conceivably opposing proof that may instruct us to change course. At long last, thought fetishization blinds us to what's extremely significant - really accomplishing something valuable with the thought! Thoughts are simple, execution is hard. The law of trivialityThe British creator C. Northcote Parkinson is celebrated for his law of technicality, first explained in a humorous article distributed in 1957. Parkinson composes of a board gathered to support plans for an atomic force plant that rather invests a large portion of its energy contending about a bicycle shed. The anecdotal council burns through such a great amount of time on the bicycle shed since individuals are bound to have a conclusion on things they comprehend. While scarcely any vibe q ualified to talk about atomic force, everybody can offer their input about a bicycle shed.Triviality applies its capacity in different manners. We have all, at some point felt wronged by somebody who has taken something from us. Like a youngster who separates crying after another child swipes his colored pencil, we reflexively respond, some of the time with compelling feeling, before perceiving the detail of the situation.Perhaps the most awful virtuous responses originate from thought pioneers. While business results can be estimated with cash, acknowledge for thoughts as property is more diligently to evaluate, and the battle for that credit can draw out the most noticeably terrible in individuals. I've lost check of the occasions I've heard somebody decry a scholastic or an industry partner as a hack, a con artist, or a thought hoodlum. As the political researcher, Wallace Sayre has been credited as saying, In any debate, the power of feeling is conversely relative to the estimat ion of the issues in question. Hence, we contend most about the things that issue least. When it went to my exposition, I understood I'd gotten worked up over nothing. My reaction looked significantly progressively crazy in the event that you consider that both Mele (the New York Times writer) and I refered to others' plans to make our points.I ought to have been satisfied that I'd composed something a distribution like the New York Times likewise thought was significant. At the point when I checked Twitter subsequent to distributing my post, I saw a benevolent tweet from Mele: @nireyal Very cool blog and post today. Apologies, you got scooped however doesn't reduce the data you conveyed. In life, there are a lot of pastels to shading with. The savvy youngster cheerfully finds better approaches to make something original. This segment previously showed up at Nir and Far.

Can Listing Awards On Your Resume Portray Arrogance - Work It Daily

Can Listing Awards On Your Resume Portray Arrogance - Work It Daily Is it feasible for a selection representative or recruiting director to get the impression you are self-important while investigating your resume? Is it conceivable that your responses to common inquiries questions, even the exemplary enlighten me regarding yourself, leaves the questioner the impression â€" possibly only an early introduction â€" that you a self-assimilated â€" and haughty? The appropriate response is yes â€" yet it isn't so much that simple in light of the fact that the lines can be difficult to characterize among certainty, modesty, and haughtiness. Related: Would HR Managers Review YOUR Resume? My enthusiasm for this is incited by a few continues that I've been approached to study as of late â€" the last one specifically. The person's resume was not all around built â€" but rather covered in report were a few signs of an extremely cultivated person. Be that as it may, what stood apart on the resume on both my first (initial introduction) read through and second exceptionally cautious assessment was my decision the individual is obviously persuaded by accepting proper acknowledgment. The impression I was unable to disregard after various readings was that this individual may be self-important, or at any rate, is persuaded that conventional honors are a key piece of his experience. The end that he's firmly propelled by formal prizes is acceptable data â€" in case I'm enrolling for an association that, actually, gives a high number of formal prizes. If not this may be an individual to turn out to be immediately disappointed without getting formal, representative of the month type grants. I accept there's a solid connection among acknowledgment and maintenance and a key piece of that is realizing how a worker needs to be perceived. In particular, in this specific case, the resume recorded six explicit grants. They were excluded as the consequence of something he achieved â€" in spite of the fact that in truth they must be. They were recorded as explicit Encounters. He really recorded accepting a similar honor three unique occasions. I'm by and by acquainted with this specific prize â€" however I'm pleased with what I really did to get the honor â€" not simply that I got it. In this specific model, I can hypothesize from the encounters what prompted the honors â€" however I can't be certain when different encounters are recorded alongside the honor. Acknowledgment and grants ought to be on your resume I am in no way, shape or form saying that acknowledgment and grants ought to be erased from a resume. In any case, they ought to be a piece of the aftereffects of something you did to gain the honor â€" not simply acquiring the honor. Winning Sales Person of the Year is noteworthy however that is not the employment. What about these: Produced $200+ million in deals in every one of the most recent two years, expanding deals in a single domain by 20% and opening another region the subsequent year, acquiring Sales Person of the Year grant the two years. Created, executed, including preparing 125 part deals power, an Excel-based deals announcing framework that highlighted turn tables and large scale based age of reports. Diminished month to month detailing time by 8-10 hours for every salesman. Gotten yearly Deals Innovation grant. These announcements tell an enrollment specialist or employing chief what you did, particulars on the outcomes, and how you were perceived for it. The subsequent model additionally shows how you really utilized a MS-Office instrument â€" not simply that you're encountered with it. It additionally prompts an enrollment specialist's enthusiasm for needing to find out about what you did and even what the opposition for the honor may have been. Shouldn't something be said about the meeting? Somehow or another, the meeting gives a more clear response to this inquiry of self-importance. An up-and-comer is posed the untouched exemplary inquiry (and not especially great inquiry) to open the meeting: Enlighten me regarding yourself. The up-and-comer reacts, Well, in my last occupation I won Worker of the Month three unique occasions. Or then again how about we consider a great inquiry question: In your present position, inform me regarding your most noteworthy achievement. And the reaction is, Simply a month ago, I was granted the organization's Creative Idea grant. Huh? I think it is clear these are not solid responses to either address. Occupation searchers are urged to get ready and practice answers to conceivable inquiries questions. One of my guides urged vocation searchers to plan 40-50 shorts answers, C-A-R Mini stories, for every zone of their professions, including school. These short answers ought to contain the Challenge, the Action Taken, and the Result. The outcome can surely incorporate any acknowledgment got â€" however notice the acknowledgment comes in the wake of expressing the test and the activity taken. Another note It ought to likewise be called attention to that they may be some doubt about remunerations and acknowledgment â€" which further legitimizes including the data yet not giving it essential core interest. Representative of-the-Month programs have been condemned by the board masters and disparaged in TV and movies. Indeed, even some first rate grant programs are seen as political by a few. By just recognizing an honor or acknowledgment as a feature of a critical achievement, you are giving the selection representative or employing administrator the decision of following up on the subtleties whenever wanted. That places the introduction of the acknowledgment in a progressively humble point of view â€" and that itself merits an honor! Why Unemployment Statistics Can Be Very Misleading

Why Unemployment Statistics Can Be Very Misleading Statistics. They’re great if used appropriately and they’re understood. According to a recent U.S. government ‘statistic’ the inflation rate is about 1 percent. But anyone who buys anything knows that’s probably not a true portrayal of costs event though that rate is defined as ‘the rate at which the general level of prices for goods and services is rising.’ The same argument can be made for what the media, government and politics use when quoting the unemployment rate from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That rate refers to “the percentage of the total labor force that is unemployed but actively seeking employment and willing to work.  But that rate is not an accurate portrayal of the percentage of Americans who want to work full-time but arent able to. The official rate doesnt include those whose unemployment benefits have run out, those who are under-employed (e.g. working part-time when they’d rather work full-time) or others who choose for whatever reason not to file an unemployment claim.   That’s one reason why I’m opposed to the decision to cut off federal unemployment benefits. By using the ‘official unemployment rate’ nearly 90,000 New Jersey residents had their unemployment benefits cut off on December 28th as Congress failed to vote on extending long-term benefits before going on recess until early next year. But even that number is a bit deceiving as it doesnt include what I call the forgotten unemployed  â€" those who aren’t counted by the government. Viable system: I agree there needs to be a finite amount of time before a person’s unemployment benefits expire. But along with unemployment benefits, there needs a viable system in place to help train those that want to work in a field but don’t have the needed skills. This isn’t just about re-training someone to do a different type of job as much as it is to explain how to ‘network’ â€" that generic term meant to explain how to find jobs besides applying online to job boards and sending up your resume hundreds of times without hearing back. Teach how to connect with people, schedule ‘informational’ interviews, have resume review sessions and schedule job fairs which don’t just have customer service or sales jobs. More experienced workers: For those of us (me included) who are a specific ‘age’, we acknowledge there are many biases that hinder our individual job searches. Many employers won’t hire someone who’s out of work; others will find ways to not hire an older person by questions they ask and by how they phrase a job description. Others assume we won’t work for a specific salary based on our job history.   Let’s just say when I get called by a recruiter and their first question is whether I’m working and I say ‘no’ that conversation ends abruptly without any acknowledge or interest in my situation. I’ve learned to ‘dance’ around that question and others like it. READ MORE:  How to  Get  a  Job  Past the Age of  50 Conclusion: We all can agree to disagree on how we got into this situation â€" but pointing fingers and grandstanding isn’t going to change anything soon. Emotions run high and there are some simple ways that we can fix things as long as we acknowledge the system is broken and not point fingers and play the ‘blame game’. There needs to be an open discussion between hiring managers, recruiters, those out of work and those who are working. We need to leave government out of this equation as much as possible. I’ve said on more than one occasion that the government Healthcare website would’ve been up and running a bit easier if they let many of the IT and marketing people who are out of work, fix it. As well-meaning as some in government may be, a long-term (no pun intended) solution needs to come from a consortium of officials at Fortune 500 companies and other stakeholders. There are many great job support groups that have sprung up out of necessity â€" the challenge is to integrate the best of each into one location. I’m calling on those who are in position to help me make this dream come true. I also facilitate several job support groups in northern NJ. I welcome LinkedIn connection requests.

Facebook and Your Job Application

Facebook and Your Job Application If you have a social profile on Facebook and are in the job market, beware Unlike Internet giants Google and Amazon who sell books and DVDs or offer money transfer services, Facebook’s business model is all about getting ‘us’ to sign up to use their site. And let’s face it, without ‘us’ they would have no model at all. In order to survive and prosper, Facebook has to retain existing users and generate new ones, and because of the nature of Facebook, they’re totally reliant on social trends and preferences. As we all know, trends can and do change with time, so be warned when deciding to make your next career move, because your Facebook profile could thwart your ambitions. In the USA, social profiles on Facebook are now being used by governmental and non-governmental agencies to make important decisions that may impact on your life. All kinds of data such as criminal convictions, child custody issues, personal profiles and everyday online material â€" much of it posted by Facebook users themselves â€" is now being scrutinised for information that may be detrimental to the owner of the profile. In recent years, companies like LexiNexis, an online legal research business, have been established with the sole aim of trawling social networking sites for pertinent personal information. And some of these research companies work for clients in the recruitment industry. In the USA, the Internal Revenue Service trawls MySpace and Facebook, searching for tax evaders, personal income details, and the whereabouts of profile owners, if they’re on the run. Most of us are not evading our tax commitments or are wanted fugitives, however, most of us do apply for jobs. Results of a recent survey revealed that around three-quarters of all job recruitment companies have rejected applicants based solely on their online personal profiles. The numbers of online research companies are growing exponentially. These companies trawl for data that may be of interest to prospective employers, unhappy spouses, advertisers and other interested parties. Online users with personal profiles are being stereotyped. For example, if youre a university graduate, the choice of music you list in your profile could well place you in a demographic that includes recreational drug users. This information can then be used by recruitment companies or motor and health insurance companies and may lead to you being rejected for a particular job or turned down for some form of insurance. And since most of these companies don’t have to disclose why they reject an applicant, the real reasons may never be known. So, be aware of the incriminating trail your Facebook profile may leave and post personal information with great care. ___________________________________________________________________________________________

How to Set and Achieve Your Goals - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

How to Set and Achieve Your Goals - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Almost half of 2014 has passed.   Did you ever look back and think what you have achieved since the beginning of this year or what goals you have that you need to complete by the end of this year? Did you revisit your list to revise your goals or more importantly do you have a list of goals written down? Goal setting is a trigger of success. The more you achieve your goals, the more successful you feel. You will also feel more motivated to set new goals and grow yourself. If you are not sure how to set and achieve goals for yourself, you can find some helpful tips below. 1.  Decide What You Want to Achieve: It is important to decide what you want to accomplish during the year. For example; if you are not happy with your current job, finding a new job can be your goal. If you want to continue your education, enrolling a graduate degree or a certificate program should be your goal for this year. All of your goals do not need to be career related. Traveling to a new country can be your goal or a prize that you give to yourself when you achieve a career related goal. 2.  Be Specific About Your Goals: Reachable goals are specific. For example; ‘I want to lose 10 pounds in two months’ is a much better goal compared to ‘I want to lose weight this year’. If you know exactly what you want, you can work easier towards that goal. 3.  Write Down Your Goals: If you don’t write down your goals, they stay as wishes. You want them to happen but you barely find the motivation to make them real. If you write down your goals plus figure out an action plan to work towards them, you will notice that it will be easier for you to achieve them. If your goal is to buy a four bedroom house in your favorite neighborhood, write it down and figure out an action plan to save money for payments. This can be to cut back from shopping or to sell your luxury car and start using public transportation, etc. 4.  Don’t Postpone Your Goals: Always set yourself a deadline to achieve your goals. If you want to change your job within six months, do so! Don’t delay it for another six months or else, it will never happen. However, your deadlines must be realistic enough so you can accomplish them. For example; if you just started your career as an actor and acted in your first movie, expecting to win an academy award with this movie is not a realistic goal. It can happen but still, it is not a realistic goal to achieve. 5.  Revise Your Goals over Time: Things may not always go according to the plan. Maybe your goal was to get promoted but a financial crisis occurred and as a result, your employer started to lay off its employees. In this case, it is wise to revisit your goal and revise it as ‘keep your job’. Under these circumstances, it is more important to keep your job rather than to get promoted.

Resume Writing Pricing Guidelines

Resume Writing Pricing GuidelinesMany employers require a pricing statement before granting an interview or employment. While the situation of non-competency should be avoided as much as possible, it is not always so, and if it is presented, it must be attached to the resume and clearly stated.Since companies wish to differentiate their products from competitors, they seek out information that is unique to that product. The qualifications and experience that are acquired by a candidate should be clearly stated on the resume. If you have used the same product or service for any length of time and have a strong recommendation for the company, you can include a reference stating that fact. Some industries are perceived as more secure than others. They may prefer to interview people that have been in that particular field for many years.Pricing is the pricing in the price tag. One example of a pricing statement is that for a home security system. The name of the company, the price, the ty pe of system being offered, the warranty coverage, and the availability of installation are all information that can be added to the resume. The skill set and training must also be stated clearly. Such information can be added to the resume when adding an applicant to the job posting. The amount of training that is required will vary based on the skills necessary for the position being offered. The license number should be included on the resume. For those who hold any professional licenses, such as a medical billing license, it is helpful to have the license number on the resume. This will provide the employer with a record of education that is available for verification.Education, if relevant, can be added to the resume after looking over the resumes of those being considered for the job. The employer wants to know about education and training that could help in the hiring process. In addition, having education from specific institutions that are available for the education to be ac cepted is helpful.Experience can be added to the resume after the information has been validated by the employer. The resume may be submitted immediately to the employer or may be submitted when the opening has become available. Using these steps can help you avoid embarrassment in an interview.
